The Vivian Winston Scholarship is WHWF's way of supporting the amazing women in the Spokane area as they reach for the stars in their academic pursuits. The award ranges from $1,500 to $4,000 and can be used at any trade school, technical program, associates degree, or undergraduate program within Spokane County.

Now, you might be wondering who Vivian Winston is and why this scholarship carries her name. Vivian was a trailblazer, a true pioneer in the realm of social justice. She was championing the cause of women and children long before it was the cool thing to do. As a member of Spokane's League of Women Voters from day one in 1948, she was a force to be reckoned with. And let's not forget, she made history by becoming the first woman president of Spokane's United Way in 1969.

The Vivian Winston Scholarship Fund, established in 2006, serves as a tribute to this remarkable woman and her unwavering commitment to making our community a better place.
