2025-26 Grantees Announced

Updated: Jan 23

Our Grantmaking

These vital grants are made possible entirely through the generosity of our Giving Circle Members and donors—every single dollar of these grants comes from supporters like you who are passionate about creating positive change.

How You Can Help

We are actively working to raise funds to continue supporting grants like these, and we warmly invite you to join us in this effort by making a gift or joining us at our upcoming fundraising event, Give Like a Woman on May 21.

The event will feature award-winning journalist and author Mariana Atencio. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet each of our grantees and learn more about their work. This inspiring event celebrates the power of collective generosity and its transformative impact on the lives of women and children.

Together, we can create a brighter future for local women and children. Thank you for considering joining us in this impactful movement.

The Process

We are excited to share an overview of our grantmaking process which reflects the collaborative and thorough approach we take to ensure impactful funding decisions. Here's how the process unfolded this year:

  • Focus Areas Selection: Our Giving Circle Members selected the funding focuses for the year, determining the priority areas where we aim to make the greatest impact.

  • Letter of Intent Submission: Organizations interested in funding submitted a Letter of Intent, outlining their goals and potential projects aligned with our focuses.

  • Initial Review and Selection of Finalists: The WHWF Allocations Committee carefully reviewed all Letters of Intent and selected 35 outstanding finalists for further consideration.

  • Member Input on Finalists: Giving Circle Members reviewed the finalists and voted on the organizations they most wanted to receive funding in the upcoming year.

  • Grant Applications and Panel Review: The finalists submitted a detailed grant application and participated in a panel meeting with WHWF volunteer grant reviewers. This allowed for an in-depth understanding of each organization's proposed projects and potential impact. Over 40 volunteer grant reviewers helped make these meetings possible.

  • Funding Recommendations: The volunteer grant reviewers submitted their funding recommendations based on the applications and panel discussions.

  • Funding Slate Development: The WHWF Allocations Committee developed a funding slate by considering the grant reviewer recommendations and the Giving Circle Member vote.

  • Board Approval: Finally, the WHWF Board of Directors reviewed and approved the funding slate, ensuring alignment with our mission and goals.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone involved in this process—from our Giving Circle Members and volunteer grant reviewers to our Allocations Committee and Board of Directors. Your dedication and thoughtfulness have made this collaborative process possible. Thank you!
