Responsive Grant Information

A virtual Grant Information Session was held on August 17, 2023 to assist potential applicants with the grant process. The session covered eligibility, key dates, how to apply, required information, and how our Collective Giving Community helps to shape the responsive grant process.

The Letter of Intent application is open from 8/18/23-9/19/23. The goal of this LOI process is to allow WHWF to understand at a high level what your agency is working to accomplish, the needs being addressed, the population being served, and how the work aligns with our funding focus areas. 

Eligibility -

To receive funds, your agency must:

  • Have 501(c) (3) tax-exempt status as defined by the Internal Revenue Service or be fiscally sponsored.

  • Spend no more than 5% of your budget on legislative involvement.

  • Serve women and/or children in Spokane County

Please note: WHWF does not fund individuals, political action organizations, or endowment funds.

Guidelines - 

  • WHWF grants funds to organizations that support women and/or children.

  • WHWF encourages that each agency only submits one application each year. 

  • WHWF awards responsive grants for one year. Grant funds are available to spend between July 1 and June 30. No funds should be expensed prior to July 1 or after June 30. After the termination of the grant year, unexpended funds must be returned to the WHWF office by September 1.

  • WHWF examines the financial stability of agencies.

  • WHWF favors innovative, collaborative, and creative programs that meet community needs and align with our mission to empower Spokane area women and children to achieve their full potential.

  • WHWF will conduct site visits prior to allocating funds.

2023-24 Process Overview and Timeline -

If your LOI meets criteria in the initial review, you will receive an invitation email to submit the Full Application. A site visit will be scheduled by a current or past WHWF Board Member. This site visit is not an indication of funding. WHWF will communicate a decision about your application when the review and due diligence process is complete. Grant decisions are subject to Board-adopted guidelines and approval.
